Washington D.C. December 8, 2011 - In a hearing today before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee on Justice Department Oversite, United States Attorney General Eric Holder was drilled by Congressman Jared Polis (D) of Colorado regarding the Feds enforcement policy regarding Medical Marijuana. Holder reaffirmed that the Ogden Memo from 2009 is still and has been since then, the official Federal policy position that the Federal government has limited resources regarding medical marijuana and reiterated that enforcement of federal marijuana laws is a low priority.

Holder’s statements indicate as did the original Ogden memo that those acting in accordance with their state’s medical marijuana laws a not a target of the Feds.

Holder further responded that the Federal Government is not targeting banks and financial institutions that serve medical cannabis business that are in compliance with their state laws.

The Holder comments have come after a secret Fed memo was released earlier this week by NORML that recent Fed activity in California is targeting large scale commercial marijuana operations, money laundering and drug cartels.
