At a celebration for the 500th episode of "The Simpsons," Tommy Chong was asked about Whitney Houston's recent death. "It's a sad, sad thing," Chong told Access Hollywood.

But Tommy Chong's most interesting statement, one that is echoed throughout the marijuana industry: "Had she just stuck to pot, she’d be alive today."

Though the coroner's official report for Houston's bathtub death may not be released for weeks, many speculations and signs have pointed to the singer's death being a fatal mix of alcohol and prescription drugs such as Xanax. Even the Los Angeles County coroner that spoke to Houston's family advised that the death was most likely from the drugs and alcohol, not drowning.

"It's when you get into that other stuff," continued Chong, referring to mixing alcohol with prescription drugs. "The trouble with that other stuff is that you forget you're high. You think you're taking a bath and you're not. You're under the water. It's a sad, sad thing."
