San Leandro City Council, in a 6-1 vote, has agreed on a one-year ban on medical marijuana dispensaries and grow operations.

In what can either be construed as a victory for either side, the interim ban will allow the city to see how state and federal governments handle the issue in the pivotal coming months leading up to the general election.

Medical marijuana has been a hot issue in San Leandro since the city imposed an emergency moratorium in 2010.
