‘Electra’-fied on Coronado Island

coronado2

Downtown San Diego is such a busy place that it's a shining example of the phrase, “hustle and bustle.” Thousands of people scurry off to work in high-rise buildings, hundreds more attend business conventions, countless tourists explore the city, and baseball games bring downtown traffic to a standstill! Non-stop activity around every corner can overload the senses and cause unnecessary stress, so where can someone find peace and serenity? Across the bay at Coronado Island, that's where!

Munchied: Park Burger

parkburger1

One of the most quintessential munchie foods of all time has got to be the Cheeseburger. There are so many components that can either make or break this seemingly perfect food. Was the meat prepared and cooked right? What toppings and condiments came on the burger? Did the bun stand up to the meat, or did everything just go to hell and the bun tear in half (that's the worst). Trying to eat a burger with a torn bun is like trying to smoke a bowl without the bowl (not that it's impossible…my good buddy Deem made a bad habit out of using his hand as a bowl back in college, but that's another story my friends). The point I am trying to make here is that you don't have to search high and low in order to find a good cheeseburger; however, if you want to find the perfect cheeseburger, then that, my friends, is an entirely different journey all together.

Groveland Hotel and the Iron Door Saloon

GrovelandHotel-04

Speeding along State Road 120 from Sacramento, with Yosemite National Park just a handful of miles down the road, it’s quite easy to zip right past an oasis of history dating back to when gold was the currency and justice was swift.

Ripe with an abundance of other pre-park activities including hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, gold panning and so on, Groveland, a town of about 3,300 year-round residents, is ideally located for folks headed to explore Yosemite’s grandeur. For those who want simply to relax in the midst of history, the Groveland Hotel awaits. It’s a small, two-story hotel with just 17 rooms and a friendly, resident cat. And it has its rewards. One of them is genuine Southern hospitality (and Southern drawls), transplanted from Tennessee and nurtured daily by co-owners and hosts Peggy and Grover Mosley.

The Budding Flower Fields of Carlsbad

FlowerFields1

Many people consider marijuana to be a weed, but it's actually a flowering plant. Granted, cannabis flowers look more like a cluster of plant matter than an actual blooming flower, but they're just as beautiful! Nearly all flowering plants have a similar structure, and they form buds and flowers to attract insects that spread their pollen. Thanks to the similarities, I love flowers almost as much as I love cannabis! In my opinion, every marijuana connoisseur should appreciate flowers of all kinds, and there's no better place for a flower-child to visit than the gorgeous Flower Fields of Carlsbad!
