Coachella 2012

COACHELLA-2012

If this world's going to end this December, then why not go out with a righteous bang instead of a silly whimper? That seems to be the thinking at Goldenvoice, as they've produced arguably the best lineup in the history of music festivals, with the 2012 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.[/introtext]

Coachella is the unofficial start of the music festival season, and it's legendary for bands premiering their new works out at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. Island Food and Denver Dancehall

denverdancehall1

Today’s reggae scene in Denver and the rest of Colorado is quite strong, as advertised and promoted by sites like Reggae Movement, where I learned about a place called Opal’s on 9th and Lincoln that has a weekly reggae DJ night called ”Lion Saturday.” Opal’s serves a lot of sushi, fried eels and other seafood, also an excellent selection of Italian bistro fare and entrees like Grilled Ribeye steak and Chilean Sea Bass. No jerk chicken or friend plantains, as I’d hoped, but why split hairs. I was glad to find a new dancehall joint in Denver. I’ve been a fan of reggae music for more than half of my life, and while it’s not widely known, many rock and roll bands from the UK to become popular in America during the sixties, from the Kinks to less obvious ones like the Beatles, cut their teeth on the sounds from Jamaica along with the ones from America.

There is, however, another side of Colorado located on the I-25 corridor in dangerously close proximity to other tourist destinations such as Canon City and Colorado Springs. We're talkin' Pueblo, Baby!!

You may have lived in Colorado for a while, but you've more than likely missed out on some of its finer experiences. Colorado used to be a hidden treasure chest of precious metals, but today most of that treasure has been cashed in. In fact, many of Colorado's ghost towns and mining areas have been raided and picked over by looters, who have literally taken everything, including the kitchen sinks. However, there are still a few closely guarded secrets Colorado holds for those with an adventurous spirit. This month we present six of Colorado's best hidden treasures, but let's just keep them between the two of us, shall we.
