I want to wish all my patients and readers a very Happy New Year. 2011 was a tough year for many, especially for the cannabis industry. 2012 will bring on new challenges to the industry as we move forward with the legalization of cannabis and educating people on its medicinal benefits. For me personally, my challenge this year is to get more people to focus on their health and the benefits of edibles and doing more cooking with infused products. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Well, “an edible a day keeps the prescription pills away.” That’s my motto this year. Food is the answer to many of our health concerns.

Recipes: December 2011

As the Holiday season and New Years approaches, we should give thanks to those that mean so much to us and who have been there in the good times and bad. There is always something to be thankful for if you look deep inside. This is the year to reach out and help others. Many of us have experienced one of the most difficult financial years of our lives or know of someone who has. We think we have very little to give or help others during these times, but that’s not the case at all. This year, the greatest and easiest gifts are something we can all afford; ask someone to join you for Christmas dinner or New Year’s party, donate clothes, food, and/or toys to a shelter or someone in need, adopt a child for a day, call someone who would love to hear from you, give gift cards for food and coffee or old coats to the homeless, or adopt a dog or cat. So you see, there is plenty we can do to add a bit of much needed goodwill to the world. Just do it…it’s all about giving…Happy Holidays.

When Executive Chef and restaurateur Scott Durrah was asked by Kush Magazine to provide cannabis recipes for their cannabis lifestyle magazine, the immediate answer was, “Yes,” but with a twist. Chef Scott’s work and outreach to the medicinal marijuana community helped him realize that the questions about holistic healing with food infused with cannabis, is more than just a recipe. Patients and recreational users have questions about dosing, how to activate hash and other issues not always answered in a recipe.
