Rival Sons

Mike Miley of Rival Sons Talks Blues and Kush

Since forming in 2008, Rival Sons has busted through the gate, blasting their fresh take on blues to audiences across the globe. They have the fever of a strong, young band of this contemporary era, with the soul and gritty depth of Muddy Waters.

More than any other genre or classification of music, blues-heavy rock has maintained its sound through the generations. While you could trace its origins as far back as you want (even cavemen sang the blues), once Muddy Waters helped pioneer the modern sound of the blues in the 60s, those most successful blues acts have typically kept the same basic format...one that has held up over time.

weGrow: The Wal-Mart of Weed Interview

weGrow is the Emerald City of hydroponics, but unlike the Emerald City in the wonderful Land of Oz, weGrow is no fairy tale story overflowing with kaleidoscopic images of a young calico clad Dorothy Gale who gets blown away during a Kansas twister, ending up on a search for the wizard with a motley crew composed of a rusted out oilcan of a tinman; a non-fire retardant scarecrow; a lion afraid of his own shadow and a group of flying monkeys that could pass for a posse of feral Federal DEA agents.

Adam Carolla - Pillaging the Pirate Ship

Carolla by Wam

Upon entering the studio I didn't hear any formal greetings between Adam and his staff, instead Adam began talking to the room (and no one in particular) about the poor design of his key chain car alarm. It seemed to be an ongoing discussion, and like most of his rants, it was not only funny but it was also so simple and logical that I wondered why I hadn't thought of it myself. What I've always heard about Adam Carolla is that he is exactly the same guy off-air as on. That proved it.

Part of Adam's appeal is that when he gets going on a tirade he seems to make himself angrier and angrier and works himself up the more he goes. And he can get just as angry about war in the Middle East as he can about the inefficiency of ketchup packets. But there's a method to his madness. Behind every rant there is a logic that is so concise that it makes you feel like you've always felt the same way even when you hadn't…or didn’t know how to say it.

Dan Hartman

Kush had the pleasure of having a candid conversation with Dan Hartman the Director of the Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division of the Colorado Department of Revenue regarding the current status of the licensing of medical cannabis businesses in the state.

Colorado enacted a state regulatory license system last summer to license Medical Marijuana Centers, offsite growing facilities, as well as infused product manufacturers. Here is what Mr. Hartman had to say about it;

Kush: Dan for our Kush readers that don’t already know you, can you please give us a brief description of what your job duties are:

“As the Director of the Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division I am tasked with creating the rules and regulations that meet statutory mandates to regulate the Colorado Medical Marijuana industry. Since late 2009, I have worked with my boss Matt Cook to help craft the legislation that created this Division, and since its passage I have been hiring staff and running it. My appointment as Division Director just formalizes the role I’ve been playing since July of last year.”
